  2. Thank you so much for the complement! It’s come a long way since we first got her and we can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. The bathroom has been the most difficult area of the airstream, so it’s nice to finally see something completed in it.

  3. Thank you so much for the details and information of so much of your work. My wife and I bought a 31' 1973 Excella 500 in May this year. We were hoping for a cosmetic makeover and to have it done by August 16th. As I began to tear it apart the damage from being parked in a shady place for ten years became more and apparent. Needless to say the rot from water from those leaky Vista Views was into the floor and consequently the frame. It has now become a shell on (more or less) ground up restoration. Just wanted to say thanks for the inspirational pictures. If it wasn't for generous and organized people like you, spending their extra time and blogging their successes and failures I would have to spend even more time trying to get answers for the millions of questions I have on a daily basis. Good luck with the rest of your project.

    1. Thank you so much for complement. Its comments like yours that keep us going! It can be disappointing to uncover unsuspected damage especially on a time table. I remember spending weeks repairing parts of the airstream and when family and friends stopped by the airstream didn’t look any different to them. I was so anxious to start on the interior but knew important repairs needed to done first if it was going to be done right. Keep pushing forward and there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks again!

  4. Amen brother! LOL! I spent nearly 3 and a half weeks grinding the rust off the frame, strengthening and repairing the frame, metal prepping and spraying POR 15. That was definitely not in the original schedule. It's work that needed to be done as investment protection. I just hope it has not all been in vain! We missed our deadline to take it camping but it was probably a blessing. I will now take more time with basic infrastructure and hopefully get it exactly where I want it. We recently had it spray-foamed and I just ordered a 709 SeeLevel II Tank Monitor System for the holding tanks. Belly pan replacement and sub-floor sooooon... At some point I hope to get all my photos together and post them somewhere. I look forward to more of your pics. Thanks for the reply!

  5. I loved reading through your blog. My husband and I just bought an early 70s sovereign (owner was not sure of the year model but new it was early 70s). I was wondering if you could share a little more about what you did to the bathroom. We were wanting to completely gut ours and replace the fiberglass interior but was told that was going to cost around $2000 to do so. Could you please share what exactly you did to yours? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks
